It gives me great pleasure to announce that Audrey Watters will be guest blogging on e-Literate. I know it’s been awfully quiet lately at e-Literate. That will change soon. As I previously noted, we will have some guests posts from Jim Farmer and Phil Hill. I am also delighted to announce that Kim Thanos will be joining us as a semi-regular guest poster for at least the next few months. Those of you who know Kim probably know that she is the consummate facilitator and is superb at eliciting insights from the people she speaks with. What you may not know, because she is so humble, is that she is also one of the keenest, shrewdest observers in the educational technology industry. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.
My pace of blogging will also begin to pick up a little. I have tons to write about. My time is still pretty constrained, but my stamina is starting to adjust to this new pace of work, so I hope to be able to make a little more time for writing again.

A Promotion
Last week I was promoted from senior program manager for the apps program for MindTap (called MindApps, aptly enough) to senior program manager for all of MindTap. In the short run, this means that my light blogging schedule will continue for a while as I adjust to my new position—probably at least through the end of the summer. But if you can be a little patient, I expect to have lots to say, as I am learning a ton and rethinking a lot of my positions about the future of educational technology.
I am very, very excited about MindTap, not only because I think it’s a great product in and of itself, but also because it is a sign that we are finally breaking the log jam that has been impeding large-scale innovation in educational technology for the past decade. I’ll be talking about this (and demonstrating MindTap) in my closing keynote at the Moodle Moot next week in California and expect to have a screencast demo of MindTap posted here to e-Literate relatively soon afterward.

Blackboard Has Been Acquired
You may or may not have heard the news that Blackboard has agreed to be acquired by a private equity firm called Providence Equity for a total of $1.64 billion. Ray Henderson has a blog post about the acquisition here. I’m still completely overwhelmed trying to get up to speed on my new job, so I won’t have time to write an analysis of the deal. Lucky for you, Jim Farmer has offered to write one—in two parts, no less. I’m always interested to learn Jim’s perspective, particularly on financial and legal analysis. His first post will be up shortly.
