In my continuing tradition of inviting guests who are a lot smarter than me, our next two Blursday guests always challenge me and will challenge you too if come join us.
This week (6/3) will be John Whitmer or, as he was affectionately called when he led learning analytics work at Blackboard, Dr. John.
John is one of the folks I go to first when I have questions about machine learning, AI, analytics, and similar topics in EdTech. He’s worked at a major university system, a big LMS company, a huge high-stakes testing company, and now at the Federation of American Scientists. He’s a smart dude. And funny. Good bar company. All that said, I have not yet heard him sing or play the piano, so we’ll see if we can get him do a little New Orleans-style jamming for us.
On next Blursday, June 10th, we’ll have Matthew Rascoff, who some of you may know from his tenure at Duke University but who has recently moved to Stanford. His new title is Special Advisor to the Provost for Education Outreach and Digital Innovation.
Mull on that one.
Matthew is one of those people who makes you sit back in your chair every time he opens his mouth. He’s incredibly thoughtful, articulate, and passionate. I’m excited about the new project he’s taken on and hope y’all will be able to brainstorm with hm a bit.
As always, Blursday Socials are BYOB.
