Job Summary: The State University of New York is seeking a new Program Manager to provide vision and leadership for the SUNY-wide Teaching, Learning and Technology (TLT) program. This full-time position will be located in the Training Center in Syracuse, New York, part of SUNY Learning Environments, a mission of the Provost and Vice-Chancellor of SUNY. There are more than 16,000 full-time and 14,000 part-time faculty teaching on the 64 campuses of SUNY. Reporting to the Director’s of the SUNY Training Center and the SUNY Learning Network, the Program Manager will provide leadership in planning, evaluating and creating the new TLT program’s system-wide faculty development initiatives, including workshops, seminars, and online courses. This will be complimented by leading content development for the annual TLT Conference, and managing TLT grant activities in collaboration with TLT professionals on the campuses to develop new opportunities with existing programs and obtain external funding to support new initiatives. This individual must also maintain currency with and disseminate recent developments in e-learning theory, educational technology and practice for higher education and ensure that the program web site is well-designed and kept current. From a work process perspective this will require the development and implementation of communication strategies to inform all stakeholders and the national higher education community about SUNY TLT activities and successes. It will also necessitate successful collaboration with the Learning Environments and Training Center staff, especially the LE Directors (Outreach and Communication; the SUNY Learning Network; Technology Projects; Academic Program Development; and the Training Center) in TLT planning.
Qualifications: Master’s degree required (Ph.D. preferred) plus 2 years relevant experience including, project management, college teaching and multimedia instructional design / technologies experience and grant development know-how. Strong leadership, written and oral communication skills and demonstrated knowledge and use of active learning, teaching, and assessment methods. Established ability to work with different types of faculty and to consult with and facilitate advisory groups made up of Office of the Provost staff, faculty development leaders, academic administrators, and students.
